Let’s Talk

lash  aftercare.

You’ve got a lash treatment. You can’t believe the transformation. Now how do you keep them fresh and healthy? We’re here to help.

For beautiful, long-lasting lashes you can believe in, you need the right aftercare. Whether you’re getting lash extensions or lash botox, your aftercare routine is as important as the treatment itself.

Lashes need a little TLC to ensure that they last well. With a good daily routine after an application from an Elite Beauty Haus artist, you can be confident that your lashes are always protected and nourished, so they won’t lose their curl, become unstuck or drop.

Why  should  you  look

after  your  lashes?

YOUR LASH HEALTH.

If you regularly do bad things to them as listed below, it can compromise your lash health and slow down the growth of new lashes. Your lids can become itchy from the buildup of dead skin if they are not cleaned regularly.

THEY WILL LOOK FULLER FOR LONGER.

Eyelash extensions that have been coated in mascara, oily makeup and strip lashes don’t look that great.

INFILL COST & FINANCIAL/TIME FACTORS.

If you look after your lashes well, you won’t need to come in as frequently or for extended infill appointments, which will save you money! Our infills are charged based on the amount of lashes that we have to replace each time.

Our
Aftercare Tips

  • Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours for lash extensions and 48 hours for lash lifts. Do not exercise, swim, do hot yoga, sit a steam room or sauna after both treatments for the first 48 hours – remember, this includes heat from ovens and steam from kettles!

  • Do not touch lashes with hands, only with a lash wand. If a lash has turned, use your lash wand to brush it straight.

  • Clean your lashes with an eyelash extension approved lash cleanser everyday to prevent build up and infection. Don’t use baby wipes/makeup wipes/cotton pads to wipe makeup off them.

  • If you have a very oily face, try to control this as much as possible with blotting papers, mattifying lotions etc. and by using oil-control moisturizer.

  • Stay away from waterproof mascara, only water-based (or none at all, for volume extensions). To remove mascara, use an oil free make-up remover.

  • There’s no need to use lash curlers – lash botox and extension treatments come with a custom lash curl that lifts your natural lashes.

  • Don’t rub your eyes when washing your face – always pat your lashes dry after cleansing or getting them wet.

  • Brush your lashes daily to keep them neat and to avoid crossover.

  • Avoid all oil-based products around your eye area. Oils will break down adhesive.

  • Naturally, you will shed anywhere between 2-5 lashes per day. That means you will need to come in for a fill every 2-3 weeks.

Let us know before your infill if you think you will need more time because you have lost more lashes than expected, or want to upgrade to a thicker set/more lashes.

what’s normal

Right after applying the lashes, some people with sensitivities may experience slight redness and dry eyes. We aim to minimise this by inquiring about sensitivities beforehand. Typically, any discomfort fades within an hour or so. If you have concerns, feel free to reach out to us.

Losing a few lashes daily (1-5) is normal. Don't worry if you notice them, as they are more noticeable due to their size. Extensions naturally fall out with the attached natural lash, making room for a new one. Losing 3 or 4 lashes on certain days is normal and doesn't indicate all your lashes will fall out.

Lash growth cycles vary in speed. If your lashes shed more quickly every few months, it suggests new growth. Other times, they may still look great at 4 or 5 weeks due to minimal shedding.

Every set of lashes is unique, tailored to eye shape, natural lash condition, and personal preferences. Keep in mind that even if you request the same style as a friend, your lashes won't look identical.

Expect an infill every 2-3 weeks, with clients typically returning every 2.5 weeks on average. Sets with more lashes (full and mega volume) often last longer than those with fewer (light volume), and shorter lashes tend to have a longer lifespan.

what isn’t normal

If you encounter intense itching, redness, or swollen eyelids in the initial days after the application, it might indicate an allergic reaction. While these reactions are rare, they can be treated, and it's crucial to reach out to us if you have any concerns.

A red streak near the lower part of your eye early on may suggest a reaction to the under-eye pads used. Although uncommon, it's generally not a major concern. Please et us know and see your pharmacist for guidance; the issue typically resolves within a few days. We can adjust future treatments using a different pad or tape method if needed.

Unusual shedding of extensions from natural lashes within the first few days. If you notice rapid shedding during this period, please contact us so we can troubleshoot and evaluate your lashes.

If your eyes feel gritty and sandy while wearing extensions over time, it indicates the need for more frequent and proper lash cleaning. Your stylist can assess your lash line and provide advice on the optimal way to clean your lashes. Regular daily cleaning with a lash wash usually resolves this issue.

infills

If you wish to maintain your lashes, you will need infills usually between 2-3 weeks. Timing depends on factors such as:

  • Generally, the more lashes we apply, the longer they last (more to lose).

  • Shorter lashes generally last longer and grow out neater than longer ones.

  • How you treat them/makeup and cleansing habits.

  • Your lash cycle and how fast you are shedding/growing lashes

  • Your skin type (Oilier complexions may experience faster lash shedding, while drier skin types often enjoy longer-lasting extensions.

Before Coming In For Your Infill

Advance bookings are recommended, especially for evenings and weekends, as these slots are popular and we don't want to leave you disappointed. If you have a preference for a specific stylist, inform us in advance for arrangements.

Please advise of any desired changes, such as upgrading to a thicker set or trying volume instead of classic. Keep in mind that thicker lash looks may require more time.

Ensure your eyes are makeup-free and thoroughly clean before your appointment. Dirty lids and lashes, including unseen factors like lash mites, can prevent the extensions from bonding well, and they may not last long – it also means we spend more time cleaning your lashes, and less time applying lashes. Arriving 5-10 minutes early to remove makeup is also an option.
